Summer temperatures are revving up in Hotlanta and residents of Atlanta apartments are gearing up for outdoor food, fun and festivals. The 31st annual Summerfest returns to historic Virginia Highlands on Friday, June 6th through Sunday, June 8th. The metro Atlanta community is invited to move outside for FREE live music, handcrafted art and tasty eats. On June 21st adults can sample local Atlanta brews in the Masquerade Music Park during Atlanta Summer Beer Fest. This is a ticketed event for ages 21+ and prices increase after June 12th.
Things just begin to heat up in June; Atlanta really starts to cook for July and August. Apartment dwellers chill at Piedmont Park Saturday, July 26th for the 4th annual Atlanta Ice Cream Festival from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Ice cream is America’s favorite dessert. Soulful music and delicious noms come together in Oakhurst, Georgia just south of downtown Decatur.

A family friendly movie will start at dark or around 9 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to watch. The completed Eastside Trail on the Atlanta Beltline gives renters of Atlanta apartments and single family home dwellers opportunities for exercise, recreation and green transportation! Running from Piedmont Park through the Virginia Highlands to Inman Park and the historic Old Fourth Ward, the Eastside Trail is open from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. and makes an easy commute for Atlanta residents. According to the Beltline.org blog the path is 2.25 miles long and follows Atlanta’s old rail corridor. Not only is commuting on the Eastside Trail a green form of transportation, but their blog reports that construction of the pedestrian and bicycle roadway removed 1700 tons of contaminated soil and allowed for the planting of over 600 trees by Trees Atlanta.

Scheduled events include: flower displays, guest speakers, chef demo, photos, equipment demos, activities for children and a buyer’s marketplace. This year’s garden show will not include a competition but set the stage for the 2015 show.
