The Bacon Chase 5K and 0.05K fun runs seek to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and include all you can eat bacon at stops along the course. November 11th is designated Veterans’ Day, a national, state and local holiday to remember the men and women that have served our nation and communities in the armed services.
The Georgia Veterans Day Parade Association will host the 2013 Veterans Day Parade in downtown Atlanta on Saturday, November 9, 2013 to honor our veterans. This year Atlanta residents are invited to celebrate a special theme, “Honoring our Korean War Veterans and All Who Preserved Freedom.”
DeKalb County residents of Georgia are invited to the “DeKalb County Georgia Veterans Day Program” at the Maloof Auditorium on Thursday, November 7, 2013. Please visit their Facebook page for more information.

Little 5 Points hosts its 13th annual Halloween Festival on October 19th this year. Residents from Decatur, East Atlanta Village and all over will flock to the parade donning their own costumes. Two stages provide live music for the whole family. The parade starts at 4 p.m. The nearby Oakland Cemetery offers tours of Atlanta’s most famous final resting place. The last two weekends in October the historic graveyard is open after dark with a ghostly guide, candlelit mausoleums and snacks and beverages for purchase. Buy tickets online.
More fun for kids of all ages is available through Zoo Atlanta’s “Boo at the Zoo,” Six Flags Over Georgia’s “Fright Fest,” and Halloween hikes at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell. Atlanta renters can hunt down an easily accessible eerie event anywhere in the city.
Riverdale, GA hosts Summer Fun Day Camp June 3, 2013 – July 26, 2013 for children ages 5-11. The camp fee is $65 per child per week of camp and the fee includes all the activities, breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack! There is a one time registration fee of $25 per camper.
Drop Off is 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. each morning and Pick Up is from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every afternoon at the Riverdale Centre for the Arts, Business and Leisure Services where all activities are scheduled to take place. For their safety, a photo ID will be required to sign out the campers.
The Apple Pop-Up Museum exhibits in Atlanta an exclusive collection of Apple products to be shown in Atlanta on Saturday April 20 and Sunday April 21. The exhibit displays an exclusive collection of game-changing Apple personal computers and consumer electronics products while presenting the history of the company since its founding in 1976 to the present. The mission of Riverdale’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Leisure Services is to provide residents a means to celebrate diversity in Riverdale by developing cultural initiatives and leisure activities that meet the needs and interests of the community. The Seafood and Beer Festival is a popular event held at the Riverdale Centre each year. The festival features a beer garden, live musical entertainment, kids’ fun zone, talent competitions, and a lobster derby. On warm summer nights cool down after work with music performed in the attached open air amphitheatre. Musical guests appear the third Thursday of the month in summer. Additional performances are scheduled throughout the summer via the South City Concert Series.
