Ashwood Ridge Apartments in Jonesboro, GA shares this twist on mom’s meatloaf.
Preparation Time 20 minutes Cook Time 55 minutes Serves Servings 4 to 6
Sauce: 1 cup chopped dried cherries 1 cup chicken broth 4 cloves garlic 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar 1 tablespoon tomato paste 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil 1 tablespoon hot sauce Salt, to taste
Meatloaf: 1 pound lean ground beef 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley 2 tablespoons minced onion 2 tablespoons pickle relish 1 clove garlic, crushed salt and ground pepper, to taste 1/2 cup beef broth 1 egg, lightly beaten
Spread: 4 ounces cream cheese, softened 4 slices smoked provolone, chopped 2 teaspoons chopped chives 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Serve on 12 Hawaiian or Portuguese sweet dinner rolls, sliced
Preheat oven to 350°F. To prepare sauce, combine cherries, chicken broth, garlic, balsamic vinegar and tomato paste in medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat 15 minutes or until thick and bubbly. Remove from heat and pour into food processor; process 2 minutes, drizzling in olive oil and hot sauce until fully emulsified. Season with salt, if desired. Set aside. To prepare meatloaf, break up ground beef into large chunks in medium bowl. Mix in the bread crumbs, parsley, onion, relish and garlic; season with salt and pepper, if desired. Add beef broth and egg, mixing until combined. Place meatloaf mixture diagonally into a 9×13-inch baking pan, making a long log (15 inches long x 2 inches wide). Smooth the top and bake 30 minutes. Brush with 2 tablespoons of sauce to glaze. Bake an additional 15 minutes and remove from oven. Let meatloaf rest 10 minutes before slicing. To prepare spread, combine cream cheese, provolone, chives and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl, stirring to create a thick spread. To serve, cut meatloaf into twelve, 1-inch-thick slices. Place each slice onto an open roll and top with 1 teaspoon each sauce and spread.
Stratford Arms Apartments knows spring is just around the corner (hopefully). The American Cleaning Institute found that 62 percent of people engage in spring cleaning. The top three priorities are the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. This year, spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a long, dreaded process. Follow these quick tips to get your house clean in no time.
- Skip the feather duster – it just spreads dust around. When you dust, work from the top down.
- Cut back on dust by making sure your vacuum cleaner bags and filters are clean and in good working order. That will keep dust and debris from being blown out into the air as you vacuum.
- Use steam to clean the inside of the microwave. Bring two cups of water to a boil in the microwave, keep the door closed and let the water sit for a few minutes. The steam loosens dried-on food particles, making it easier to wipe them away.
- Don’t forget to clean the outside of the refrigerator and freezer. Clear off the clutter of notes, coupons and photos, and then clean the doors, handles and seals.
- Clean the tub and shower with a foaming cleanser that does most of the work for you, and simply rinse it off. Wash shower curtains and liners according to label instructions.
- To help prevent soap scum buildup in the future, try switching to a liquid shower gel. Bar soaps have binders that are a primary cause of soapy residue. You can also use a towel to quickly wipe down the tub and faucets after each shower.
- To discourage mildew, use the bathroom fan during a shower and for about 30 minutes after. You can also use a dehumidifier or open the window.
Must Have Tools
- Adhesive lint roller – Great for quickly sprucing up fabric and upholstery. You can also use it to remove dust from lamp shades.
- Baking soda – Helps neutralize odors in sinks, refrigerators, upholstery and carpets.
- Sponges – Good for removing scuff marks and smudges from walls and furniture
With cold temperatures, dreary skies and bare winter landscapes, it’s easy to feel a touch of the winter blues. But there are three ways you can bring some cheer to the inside of your apartment home, no matter what it looks like outside.
Lighten Up with Light – Changing your light bulbs can help lift your mood, too. Look for bulbs with a color temperature of 5000 Kelvins (K) or higher. They produce light which most people will perceive as similar to daylight. Bulbs with “full-spectrum” lighting can also be helpful. While “full-spectrum” doesn’t have a scientific definition, the blue-white tint produced by these bulbs gives off a brightness value similar to natural sunlight.
Feel Better with Fragrance – The part of your brain that registers smells is closely linked to the part of your brain related to emotions. So adding some pleasant fragrances to your home can help boost your mood. Try room diffusers, candles and potpourri in different rooms. For a more personal pick-me-up, try scented bath water or body lotions. Some aromas to try: Citrus – orange, grapefruit, tangerine, lime Herbs and spices – rosemary, eucalyptus, spruce, peppermint, cinnamon Floral – geranium, ylang ylang
Cheer Up with Color – While you probably can’t repaint a whole room, you can add touches of color to brighten things up and bring a smile to your face. Add colorful accents. It’s easy to find inexpensive frames, vases, bowls or knick-knacks. Think about pillows, throws, table linens and small accent rugs. Inexpensive fabric remnants can be used reupholster a small chair or bench, and if it’s pretty enough, you can even frame fabric and hang it on the wall as art.
Morrowood Townhomes, nestled in a quiet wooded setting, delivers quiet peaceful lifestyle where you can feel like you’re home.
The Lexington Apartments just south of Atlanta in East Point, GA have a wide range of spacious floor plans for every budget. The large bedrooms accomodate every need. If you haven’t found the perfect home in metro Atlanta they wanted to share the tips below for moving large furninture into a small space:
Measure the length and width of the bed and other large pieces of bedroom furniture. Use a pen or pencil to write these numbers down on a notepad; you’ll need them for reference. Measure the length and width of the room so you know exactly how much space you have to place the furniture. Make a note of outlets at this time, too. Lamps and alarm clocks need to be placed on suitable furniture (dressers or tables) near the outlets.
A bed is usually the piece of bedroom furniture that takes up the most room. Once you know where the bed will be situated, you’ll find it easier to place other furniture. Lie down in the bed as though you were sleeping. If you are comfortable with the bed’s angle and placement, keep it there. There should be enough room alongside the bed to easily get up in the morning (or in the middle of the night) without bumping into things.
Place the next largest piece of furniture in the room, which is probably the dresser. Keep enough space between the dresser and other items to access all drawers. Likewise, if you are placing a desk in the room, leave room for the desk chair.
Place smaller items, like nightstands and wall decor, in the room last. It’s easier to manipulate these smaller items to make them fit than it is to place large pieces. You can also choose to eliminate a few of the small items.
Leave the room and come back in. Pretend you are going to the furniture items: You are going to bed, for example, or retrieving something from the dresser. If you must work to avoid bumping into table corners or other pieces of furniture, you may need to arrange the room a bit differently.

Atlanta brides can earn big savings by planning early. Decide in advance which elements of your wedding are most important to you and make your investment there. Also, look at some of these tips from The Village at Wesley Chapel apartments:
Simplify The devil is in the details. Cut back on what doesn’t mean so much to you, so you can invest in what does.
Cut the guest list. If your guest list is 150 try scaling it back to 100. Think about who you will remember 10 years from now when you look over the wedding album.
Drop the open bar. Offer a specialty drink that means something and sparkling wine. Most people don’t keep cash anymore, so a cash bar probably is out dated.
Set Trends for anything. Remember there are two of you. Tell the story of you as a couple. Don’t get lost in the craziness.
